Our 6-Women Volleyball Team defended their 2009 Championship at the Charlie Saikley Volleyball Tournament on Sunday, August 1st! Congratulations to the Champions – well done! The team, comprised primarily of retired AVP players (over-40), went straight through the round robin to the winner’s bracket and beat the Gum Tree Girls, 15-7, for the title.
Although the Gum Tree Girls featured outstanding AVP star player Kerri Walsh, our team’s superior depth was obvious in the 6-man format.
“They played very well, but we’ve got team chemistry and a lot of girls who can do a little bit of everything,” said team captain Nancy Reynolds, whose teammates include former AVP players Leann McSorley, Carrie Dodd, Lisa Arcee and Jennifer Castillo.
“The six-man format is so fun for us. We’ve all experienced some success, but it is still totally a thrill to win this tournament.”
