Paul Martin’s® American Grill in the Laguna Journal

The Laguna Journal’s restaurant editor, Glori Fickling, dined with us last week at our newest restaurant Paul Martin’s® American Grill. Please read her expert epicurean review on Paul Martin’s® new Irvine location.

Paul Martin’s® American Grill sets an enticing pace for what’s ahead at this newest dining delight in multi-faceted Irvine Spectrum. Grandiose is the scope of this attractive restaurant which sports an elongated bar, massive wine display unit,  cushy dining areas, twin patios and an intimate hideaway for romantic interludes.  Enticing depicts the affordably priced menu referring to seasonally updated offerings of farm fresh cuisine encompassing organic produce, mesquite grilled meats and seafood, delectable house made desserts and breads. Add to these taste sensations, sincere hospitality from dedicated servers hip to many facets of a fine dining experience, obviously predicated upon Paul Martin’s initial victory in Roseville, California five years ago, followed by a second success less than three years later…” For more from Glori’s “Paul Martin’s American Grill New Irvine Triple Threat” please read on!

Do You Know Where Your Produce Comes From?

One of our purveyors, Sun Grown Organics, brings up a great point. “People don’t know where their produce comes from anymore. Mass-produced this and processed-that. What happened to real food grown by real people?” In business for over 20 years in San Diego, Sun Grown cultivates microgreens, microherbs, sprouts, micro mixes, specialty greens and shoots, and edible blossoms.

Paul Martin’s® works with a variety of produce growers and suppliers to always put the freshest, most vibrant greens on our plates. Earthbound Farm has been organic since their beginning in 1984, and in 1986 was actually the first to successfully produce the pre-washed, packaged lettuces that we all purchase in the supermarket today. Their certified organic California greens are still produced with the guidance of the original founders and the same commitment to quality.

At Paul Martin’s® American Bistro and Paul Martin’s® American Grill, we appreciate the expertise and dedication of our purveyors, and know our guests will as well!

At our Irvine restaurant we have baby beets sprouting up in a new feature salad with some amazing goat cheese and almonds. It will be delighting taste palettes in the OC this week!

Paul Martin’s® American Grill on JULIB

JULIB is a national weekly e-blast dealing with cool lifestyle news in the bigger cities. Christopher Luu was a guest during Paul Martin’s® Irvine restaurant previews for lunch and did a piece on us!

“The bright and airy restaurant (check out the al fresco option) has bar seating, as well as huge dining booths. Try the sig cocktails which are made with the restaurant’s own infused vodkas, and for a special occasion, snag a res in the wine room where you’ll get Fleming’s fave wines as a backdrop to your meal. The menu’s got local and organic ingreds (you can see where they were sourced) and with light fare like cedar plank salmon or lamb meatballs, alongside heartier choices (braised shortribs and brick chicken), everyone will find something to love. Coming soon? Sunday dinners that you won’t want to miss with old fashioned fried chicken and then some. -Christopher Luu”  Read the complete article.

Diners’ Reviews on Food and Libations at Paul Martin’s American Bistro

Here are what Paul Maritn’s American Bistro diners are saying about our food and happy hour! (From Yelp.com).

“Incredible food and nice ambience made for a great New Year’s Day dinner at Paul Martin’s. I had the Sunday prime rib special which included salad, a hearty slab of prime rib, and a desert, all for under $30.  The service was outstanding from top to bottom. We submitted a request to have a quiet table with our email reservation and the hosts actually read it and accommodated us. Everyone was incredibly attentive and friendly and it just made me forgot all the bad customer service experiences I had over the holidays.  Thank you, Paul Martin’s, for a lovely evening.” (Dan D. El Segundo, 1/2/2012)

“Great Place! Love the Atmosphere!

So, there aren’t many choices in El Segundo. Paul Martin’s is definitely one of the better Happy Hour places out there for food and a quick drink in an upscale environment. Don’t go dressing in your Pj’s, Sandals, or looking like you just came from the beach. This isn’t your everyday restaurant. This establishment is one of a kind. Review of some food from Happy Hour (HH):
+ Maple Cider Chicken Skewers (HH) are delish. You can’t go wrong.
+ Mesquite Grilled Steak (HH) is also AMAZING! Sooo Good.
+ Marinated Skirt Steak. WOW. Comes with potatoes that melt in your mouth.
+ Sweet Potato Fries is a MUST!
Love the place. Good Work PAUL MARTIN’S!” (Michael C. Long Beach, 12/30/2011)

“This place is fantastic. Yummmmmmmmy spinach and cheese dip. The service is always fantastic and the atmosphere is very nice. It is a great date spot or even a classier place to watch a basketball game. Very versatile.” (Jennifer S. Sacramento, 1/4/2012)

“K. So, I’m not a fan of big chain restaurants but there aren’t many choices when you’re out visiting your mom in Hawthorne. Paul Martin’s was the alternative to the countless El Pollo Locos that lurk the streets of Rosecrans Ave so why not give it a whirl. To my surprise, this establishment had me at “all our dishes are made with organic produce from local organic farmers… and we buy the whole cow for our burgers.” Buying the whole cow – that’s no joke. OK – so fresh food, organic, and healthy… I can live with that, but can the food live up to my expectations? It sure as hell did! It beat out others on the street by a LONG shot. I ordered oysters on the half shell that tasted so fresh as if I had caught it myself. I also ordered the braised short ribs – HEAVEN has once again found its way into my mouth and onto my tongue. Portions were decent and because the food is so flavorful you don’t need to eat a whole lot to induce a food coma. I’ll definitely return to try their other dishes.  Oh – for dessert, try the raspberry crème brulee. AH-MAZING!” (Eileen C. Studio City, 12/30/2011)

“Took my family there a few days ago for dinner.  Chad was our waiter, he gave excellent service, very attentive.  Great food and drinks.  Fresh fish tacos.  We got top notch service.  Porter steak was amazing… They have one of the best lemon drops in town!  Love their happy hours hors d’oeuvres expect it’s always crowed…” (Ash M. Rocklin, 1/5/2012)

Thank you for your reviews. You keep us on our toes and our commitment to serving fresh, peak of the season, organic dishes!

Which Wine Goes with What Dish?

As you peruse the menu at Paul Martin’s American Bistro or Paul Martin’s American Grill, you’re thinking “I would love a glass of wine, but…what wine goes best with what dish?”

For a starter or even a light lunch, try our Spinach Salad & Warm Bacon Dressing with the Viognier from Sobon Estate. This is a full bodied white with a tasty herbal finish, and just the right amount of acid for the rich bacon dressing with feta cheese and toasted California pistachios.

Sobon Estate wines emphasize high fruit and low tannins and are made with sustainably-grown grapes. They reflect the unique Shenandoah Valley terroir, resulting in a richness and intensity rarely seen elsewhere. The vines are not irrigated, and produce a small crop of intensely flavored grapes.  The wine has a very alluring aroma, reminiscent of fresh Sierra meadow flowers, with a hint of peach and honeysuckle.  The flavors are rich and spicy – full bodied and richly textured with a long, lingering finish. (From Sobon Wines).

So come into one of our three locations (Roseville restaurant, El Segundo restaurant or Irvine restaurant), sit down, relax and enjoy our Spinach Salad with the Viognier award winning white, and as always it will be a generous 7oz pour!
